Lent

So I decided for Lent I wanted to make a commitment to write every day.  It might be tough while I'm away in Florida for the next couple of days, but I figure if you make a commitment to God, you'd better take it pretty seriously!

So tomorrow I head to Florida, which I am shockingly not excited for because it combines my fear of flying with my dislike for not being in control of my own schedule.  Plus it means I won't be able to see this guy for a few days...

But considering someone else is paying me to sit on a beach, eat good food, and enjoy the sun for a few days, I should probably get over it.  I'm really hoping to get a few good runs in while I'm down there too.  We've had some cold and rainy weekends lately, and it's usually dark before I get home from work so I've really missed being able to run outside.  I'm looking forward to daylight savings time when it's sunny until 8 p.m.!

It's Seriously March Already??

Umm... excuse me, where did February go?  I swear it was New Years Day and then I blinked and all of a sudden it's March.  In my defense, things have been a little busy...

We got a puppy named Clyde

And I took A LOT of pictures of him

And bought him a ton of squeeky toy friends

And took him on a few hikes

And then I totally killed my back by picking him up too many times and had to visit the chiropractor...

And we fixed up our new house and MOVEDDDDD (NO BIG DEAL)

Had a great night out on the town for Valentine's Day

And did some of this too...

Good thing I have Clyde now to help me walk it off!!

My Top 5 Moments of 2010

I'm a little behind on my 2010 recaps and 2011 resolutions, which I blame completely on moving in a month, getting married in six months, and addictive reality TV shows like Sister Wives that keep me up way later than they should.  That said, I feel so blessed to have had such a wonderful year filled with good health, great friends and a loving family.  So with that said, I had to pick a few of my "pics" (haha, how corny am I?) for my top moments of 2010.

#4 Spending my 29th Birthday at the Zoo with my sister Jessica, brother Justin, my mom, and my two nieces.  We got to feed hippos and tortoises!

#3 Traveling to Kennebunkport, Maine with my fiance Mike

#2 Finishing my Third Marathon and Raising Over $1,000 for Camp Erin

And Finally...

#1  Getting Engaged to a Wonderful Man!

What were your Top Moments of 2010?

Friday Workout

I really thought I would be sore after yesterday but surprisingly I felt great.  Since my car was being detailed (after five and a half years with a very furry dog, it was time) I decided to try out one of the workouts On Demand.  I settled on Jillian Michael's Yoga Meltdown.  By minute 7, I was cursing Jillian very loudly and literally screamed out "Nooooooo!" so loudly that I was afraid my neighbor would think I was being attacked.  After my planks yesterday, I really did not enjoy repeated sets of planks and yoga push ups, followed by side planks and sets of dolphin poses.  That said, I was very happy when I was finished because it was a great workout though and my arms definitely felt it.  I finished up with 2 miles on the treadmill with the elevation cranked up to 6.5.  Definitely felt that!

To be honest, I'm still not sure whether I got a better workout doing that or dancing the night away playing Now Dance 2 at my future brother-in-laws' house on New Years Eve.  Apparently there is video evidence.  I'm in trouble...

Weekday Workout

After two days not working out because I was trying to help clear out my grandparents house, I made the gym my first priority on Thursday.  I started with 15 minutes hard on the ellipse machine.  Usually I am an ellipse dawdler, going at a pace that I'm comfortable staying at for an hour on an older machine that I secretly know has an inaccurate calorie counter and will tell me I burned more calories than I actually did.  But this time I went on a brand spankin' new machine and stayed at a pace that I knew I could only keep up for 15 minutes.  I then hit the track,  running 1/2 mile fast, walking 1/2 mile, running 1/2 mile fast and then walking 1/2 mile again.  Together my two 1/2 mile sprints took just under 6:30, so I was pleased with that.  Then I went upstairs and spent 15 minutes on the stairclimber.  Please note, I went upstairs because I couldn't figure out how to change the intensity level of the the stairclimber on the lower level, and after I convinced myself it was broken, tried another one, and couldn't figure that one either, I gave up and went to an old school machine that looks like a mini escalator.  After 18 very sweaty minutes, I got off and repeated my earlier 2 mile track circuit.

At this point, I was tempted to go home but decided to tough it out with 2 :60 second planks, 2 :60 wall sits, and some arm lifting.  I finished exhausted, but totally satisfied!

Now to go home and take a nap...
